Recently, I went to the lake with my family to get a little rest, and more importantly to spend some time with my children. The weather was nice, and the sun was playing hide-and-seek most of the weekend. The lake water level was up for the first time in 3 years and invited us to jump in and swim around. Every now and then the rain would come around and pay us a visit. At the end of each day I would look at my children sitting at the dinner table with their tired eyes and smiles. This weekend was a reminder for me why family is so important. I think maybe we can sometimes forget the value of being a spouse, friend, or parent, and become to wrapped up and involved with other daily activities. I took several pictures while at the lake, but found that this picture best represents the point of my story. Sometimes if we take time to look what is right in front of us, we actually will find that some obstacles won’t be so difficult to overcome, and once we past them, their will be a warm and welcoming reward waiting for us at the end

Food for thought. My daughter went on a school trip to Cumberland Island to learn about sharks for a few days. It was definitely a school trip, and consisted of fast pace, non-stop learning. While there, she was able to see herds of wild horses scattered throughout the area. She also had an opportunity to walk the beach areas, which are heavily blotted with low marsh grass clumps and shallow brackish water beds. She was walking on one point of the beach and while staring at a group of curious wild horses, she noticed shadows moving under their feet as they walked about. The shadows were made of hundreds of thousands of fiddler crabs. These crabs breed and feed in these brackish water marshlands. As she is telling me her stories I started to think about the analogy of these hermit crabs to the millions of people moving about every day, living their lives and trying to follow the American Dream. Instead of dealing with rising waters, we have to deal with rising costs and everyday expenses. Setbacks like car repairs, sickness, and injuries are like salt and can hurt our morale. More severe things, like a job loss or bad home loan can come and pound us like a huge wave, and sometimes the waves seem to keep on coming in. At the end of her day, she told me about the beautiful sunset and the calmness that came with it. The next day it poured, but it did not matter to her, because she knew what the day before had brought her. There will always be challenges in life, some hurt and some seem relentless. Don't believe though that you won't have your chance to enjoy a little sunshine.
