Consider This!

I write about topics that affect and concern many people. Ideas and thoughts come from family, friends, co-workers, and myself. My intentions are to express feeling and value to each blog, and through words provide imagery to increase awareness of how others deal with different problems and challenges that we face living in America.

Happy Fourth of July America!

Happy Fourth of July <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />America! We are half way through 2009 and the great American roller coaster has taken our country up steep climbs and crested the scary peaks only to send us plunging downwards at breath taking speeds. The ride has never the less been a very wild one. I wish I could tell you how the rest of this ride is for the second half of 2009, but I nor anyone else really knows.

One thing I can tell you about roller coaster rides is that there are many other people on the ride experiencing the same feelings and thoughts as you are. Some may scream for joy at times, and some may be so scared that when they scream, no sound actually comes out. Even after riding the scariest of rides, you can brag about it after it stops and you walk away.

Today is a day to spend with family, friends, and neighbors. It is a time to celebrate the Independence of our great Country. If you have, or had to work today, I thank you in advance for your patriotism, and understand that you are on this economical roller coaster ride with the rest of us. To our Military based around the world, I Salute you. Just as this country’s forefathers fought for our independence, you have volunteered to help preserve safety and kept the promise of our independence alive. If you are out and about, please say a small thank you to Police officers, Fireman, and any other Government service personnel. Through their hard efforts and sacrifices, we are able to have picnics, street parties, and watch fireworks.

What are you going to do to celebrate the Fourth of July? Are you planning to have a shrimp boil and cook out on the grille? Or are you just going to kick back and relax, and wait for the fireworks to start as the even settles in? I know a few friends that actually go to a movie, since a lot of theaters are empty. Maybe your community has a parade in town. If not, let the kids dress their bicycles with red, white, and blue ribbons, and maybe some silly string. Get with the neighbors and grab your party hats, or horns and stage your own parade. Whatever you decide to do, enjoy yourself and remember the importance of this day. Also think of it as a day that exemplifies the strength and passion in all of us to have our Freedoms.
